Many countries in Asia are now battling second and third waves of the coronavirus infections. National governments are continuously implementing travel and movement restrictions for both domestic and international tourists; though some have already opened their borders for official and business travels limited to very select nationalities. In general, inbound tourism is unlikely to restart within the year.
As COVID-19 continues to keep many western countries under restrictions measures, Asia has seen promising patterns of low to zero infection rates with many sectors reopening for business. Overall, infection and mortality rates have been far below those of western society. A number of our destinations have already reopened shopping malls, restaurants and venues, while introducing social distancing measures and allowing people to return to work.
