Day 2 – Today’s full day tour of the city includes Notre Dame Cathedral, the Presidential Palace, the History Museum, Chinatown and local temples. (B, L)

Day 3 – This morning’s non-private cooking class at Hoa Tuc restaurant begins with a market visit. In the afternoon you’ll have a private calligraphy lesson with one of Vietnam’s most well-known practitioners of the craft. Learn about the integral part that breathing plays in the discipline, as well as your teacher’s belief in calligraphy as a form of meditation. (B, L)

Day 4 – This morning you’ll experience the art of Vietnam with an art expert. This non-private tour takes a look at the major shifts in 20th and 21st century Vietnam through the eyes of local artists. You’ll visit the Fine Art Museum, Duc Minh Gallery, the private home of an art collector and an independent artist-run exhibition space and reading room. Afternoon at leisure. Saigon Food & Market Tour

Day 1 – Transfer from the airport to you hotel in Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City). This evening you’ll take explore Ben Thanh night market with your guide. Two nights accommodations.

Day 2 – This morning’s non-private cooking class at Hoa Tuc restaurant begins with a market visit. The afternoon is at leisure. For tonight’s non-private Discovery Saigon’ Nightlife by Antique Vespa tour, you’ll ride on the seat behind the driver, on a vintage Vespa, for a tour of Saigon’s nightlife. Start at a coffee shop for a cocktail and appetizer. Continue to Chinatown and then to District 4, through busy streets and alleys to see the night life of the locals and to enjoy street seafood and cold drinks at places rarely visited by foreigners. Continue to Districts 3 and 1, for Banh Xeo (a specialty of Saigon) and other southern food with the locals. Continue to a hidden coffee shop for a taste of live Vietnamese music, ending at a lively bar for drinks and live music. (B, L, D)

Day 3 – Today’s full day tour takes you to the Primate Center at Cuc Phuong National Park. The Primate Center is a non-profit organization that breeds, rehabilitates and oversees conservation of endangered primates. Five of the species at the center are endemic to Vietnam and are among the world’s most endangered primates. (B, L)

Day 4 – Today’s full day tour takes you through the countryside to Duong Lam village where you’ll have a home-hosted lunch. Duong Lam is an agricultural village known for its ancient houses and temples, including the 15th century Mia Pagoda. You’ll also take a bicycle ride around the village. (B, L)

Day 5 – Today’s full day tour is to the Huong (Perfume) Pagoda. Huong is actually a complex of pagodas and shrines, many of which are in caves and grottoes or built into the limestone cliffs. To reach these pagodas, travel by boat through an area of green rice paddies, with a backdrop of mountains. (B, L)

Day 18 – Today’s full day tour takes you through the countryside to Duong Lam village where you’ll have a home-hosted lunch. Day 20 – This morning travel overland to Halong Bay where you’ll board your share Bai Tho junk boat for a cruise of the inlets and islands of this spectacular bay. Meals will be prepared for you on board. Overnight on board your boat. (B, L, D)

Day 21 – Disembark in the morning and return overland to Hanoi, where you’ll transfer to the train station in time to catch the overnight express train to Lao Cai. Overnight accommodations are in a share compartment. (B, L)

Day 22 – You’ll arrive early at Lao Cai station. From there you’ll transfer to Sapa. Upon arrival in Sapa you’ll explore the market and will then trek from Giang Ta Chai village to Su Pan village. One night accommodation in Sapa. (B, L)

Day 23 – Your full day trek will take you from Cat Cat village through Y Linh Lo and on to Lao Chai and Ta Van villages. You’ll return to Lao Cai railway station in time to catch the overnight express train to Hanoi. A shared cabin on the train is included. (B, L, D)
